Pancakes Create New Highlight for Saturday's Big Blue Run

What will it take for the Pancake Man to feed 150 hunger people the morning at the Big Blue Run of Burgess Health Center Saturday, June 27 at Lewis and Clark Park?

The pancake man is planning 15 gallons of pancake batter, 30 lbs. of sausage, 10 gallons of maple syrup and 20 gallons of coffee and juice.

"It's a scratch recipe that we make right there," says Jim the Pancake Man. "We mix buttermilk, eggs, wheat flour and secret ingredients and make 48 pancakes every minute in a half. You eat four and want more."

He makes sure folks have fun, too.

"Bring the kids and the whole family," he says. "We back people up and flip pancakes to them. The kids love it. We might hit a kid on the head, which makes it fun."

Kids and families can also walk free in the 1.5 mile walk or sign up the 5 K or 10K walk run for a fee. Pancakes are free for participants in the longer events. A freewill donation is required of others. The event starts at 7:30 a.m. and is open to the public.

The main sponsors are: US Bank, LifeNet Air Medical Services, Nelson and Rock Contracting, Dr. Peter Daher and Family, Family Medicine Clinic, Dr. John Terry, Burgess Health Center's executive medical staff, Peak Performance and Allsport.
