Recent Burgess Big Blue Run Takes Off

The second annual Big Blue Run was a big success for Burgess Health Center at Lewis and Clark Park with more than 75 runners and walkers participating. The number of runners, which included a pair from California, was up from last year.

Pancakes were served to 157 race participants, their family members and run volunteers. Some participants also spent the weekend camping at the park.

Dan Swanson won the 10k for men and donated back his winnings. Robert Pflasterer of Fair Oaks, Calf., came in first place among 5K men. The teenager and his father John were planning to travel through the area, saw that the run was taking place and registered to participate.

10K Men's winners were:

2nd - Kim Brown

3rd - Aubie Garrett

5K Men's winners were:

1st - Robert Pflasterer

2nd - Keaton Kell

3rd - Robbie Tramp

5K Women's winners were:

1st - Debi Oldenkamp

2nd - Cassie Krummel

3rd - Joanna Perkins
