Poinsettia Ball Celebrates its 25th with Two Events
The annual Poinsettia Ball, sponsored by Burgess Foundation, celebrates its 25th anniversary this year on Dec. 4 and 5 with a special holiday brunch the day before the ball in addition to a steak dinner buffet at the ball.
An elegant Champagne Brunch will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 4. at the Onawa Community Center. The evening Poinsettia Ball follows on Saturday, Dec. 5 at 6:30 p.m. at the same site.
The Friday daytime event will feature an elegant brunch buffet, beautiful décor, holiday music and silent auction gifts for bidding.
The Saturday evening ball will feature a steak dinner catered by Staley's, live dinner music, silent and live auctions and music by Wave Length.
Sponsored by Burgess Health Center Foundation, the holiday events are open to all persons to celebrate the holidays. Dr. John Garred Sr. and his wife, Fern, are serving as this year's honorary chairs.
“Our evening ball always attracts hundreds of persons to celebrate the holidays and help us advance our quality health care in the Onawa area,” says Shirley Bruegger, director of the foundation. “We added the brunch to appeal to those who also would like to celebrate with a daytime event. We have already received enthusiastic registrations for our brunch.”
Proceeds this year will help Burgess Health Center and area physician clinics with funding hardware and software for an Electronic Medical Record system that, for the first time, allows providers to have updated patient data at all hours of the day on the same system.
The brunch tickets will cost $35 in advance and $40 at the door. Ball dinner tickets of $50 per person in advance or $55 at the door will cover dinner and complimentary drinks.
Tickets can be reserved by calling Shirley Bruegger at 712-423-9374. Or purchase tickets on line at wwwburgesshc.org.
