Booths, Gifts and Information will be at Wear Red Event

 Persons can learn at booths in addition to hearing physician speakers at the third annual “Wear Red” luncheon Tuesday, Feb. 9 at the Onawa Community Center.

Booths will open at 11 a.m. and a buffet lunch will be served around 11:30 p.m. Burgess Health Center has organized more than a dozen booths to highlight education and the day's heart health theme. Gardening booths will be there in recognition of a garden theme address by a cardiologist.

Burgess booths will feature blood pressure checks, glucose screens and information on home health care, nutrition, cardiac rehabilitation, CPR, quality care initiatives, mammography and exercise.

Physician clinic booths will include Cardiovascular Associates (CVA), Creighton Cardiology and Bruening Eye Specialists. Gardening favors or information will be available at the CVA, Garden Patch and Onawa Garden Club booths.

Act II and the Burgess Gift Shop will sell items.

Dr. Majerus will address "Cultivating Hearts" with Peggy Hanner also of CVA. Hanner is a Sloan resident and avid gardener. Dr. Claire Hunter will speak to "New Heart Health Guidelines for Men and Women." Dr. Mary Groda-Lewis will speak on "Quality Living."

Prizes will be awarded for red attire for both men and women. Cost is $10 for the public and $8 for active volunteers.
